Shirt: Old Navy / Jeans: Seven for all Mankind
Time for my last post featuring the chambray shirt! Here, I'm wearing a denim-on-demim look. This is a look that a lot of people are hesitant to try, but it's definitely not one to shy away from. If done right, it can be the perfect go-to casual style. There really is only one rule of thumb when it comes to this: wear contrasting shades of denim. If you've got a lighter washed top (like above), choose a dark washed bottom. If you wear the same shade from head to toe, you may end up like you came somewhere from a cowboy ranch, or even worse... the 80's.
I prefer a dark wash denim on bottom, because of the way it slims up the body's shape. It's important to find a good pair of jeans that fit right and that flatter your body type. A pair of flared jeans with heels (as featured here), is flattering on almost any body type, and gives you added length. Wear the shirt tucked in, un-tucked, open with a tee underneath, or however you like! Play around with it and have fun!
If you don't own your own chambray shirt yet, there's plenty out there at various price points! I got mine at Old Navy for $27.50. If you're looking for a higher quality item, you can get the 'Easy Chambray Shirt' from Gap for $49.95, or if you really want to splurge you can get the 'Keeper Chambray Shirt' from J.Crew for $78. I've also seen this shirt at places like Target and American Eagle Outfitters. Being that it's such a popular style right now, you can find it almost anywhere!
